my drawn fashion portfolio from a couple years ago...the clothes you are wearing now...drawn then. Hruh?!...
review:
the fashion design portfolio of stefan daniel bell of metacouture™ | spring 2008
i decided to release the drawn pieces to the public as i knew the people influenced by work has seen the designs. i applied for work. upon hearing too many suspicious no's i thought of my fans and how much they would enjoy these drawings. and that in a couple of years they could explain why they follow the fashion couture work of a japanese victorian sasquatch on the fringe of relevant...
here is that original set. no marketing. my fans are, for the most part, under thirty and have their own soundtrack so the film is silent on purpose. other than that it took me three moths to make that film.
the film itself is about my fashion. how it fits with what you are wearing and how you wear it. how you can add new cool things to old styles and not only is it not breaking the rules (there are no rules in fashion other than profit in the mainstream market ~ it is alive and well in the self couture (my term) group (not market) of people under 30. a great example would be the collective genius of the harajuku neighborhood. they can do more with thrift clothing by the pound with lace and scissors than any living designers save lacroix or gautier. my humble opinion, and Try to make one outfit that has the magic of any single of the average in the pictures from shibuya.
these are where my aspirations for the future of fashion are. that is why i made this film. to show my fans, students, and the future of fashion that at least one american fashion designer got that green included the planet it is connected to. and most of all it is our style taste and refabrication of our many influences that makes us cool to the world. that and that we get happy like kids when we do something "original." saying that word to a 5000 year old culture is just cute...
blessings. thank you for watching.
